Easter is on Its Way
Easter is just around the corner. Now is the time to think about what you and your family are going to do on Easter Day. Not only is Easter an important religious holiday, it is a time to celebrate the coming of spring.
Do you and your kids have special plans? If you are going to church you may want to have a new special occasion dress. What if you are going to a party, or luncheon on Easter? What will you wear? I suppose it would all depend on what kind of a party you are going to.
Lots of people in the United States start Easter morning by going to church. After church it is common for people to get together and go to lunch. In the afternoon many churches have Easter egg hunts.
Why not have an Easter Costume Party? Kids can dress up like a duck, rabbit, sheep, egg, M&M, or go for a religious character. There are lots of shepherd costumes, Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus.
No party would be complete without food and or snacks. I am all for making things easy and having pizza, hot dogs, or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Desert can be a piñata filled with candy and toys for the children. This will also create a fun activity for them.
Remember the Easter baskets! You have to have plenty of Easter baskets. Not only for them to gather candy and toys from the piñata, but for the Easter egg hunt. Let’s face it, an Easter party has to have an Easter egg hunt. Get lots of eggs and fill them with small prizes, stickers, and coins. I like to plan on at least 10 to 15 eggs per child.
If you would like to have a craft project for the children you could set up a table for them to make Easter baskets. Save the green plastic berry baskets from the grocery store. Make sure they are washed and dried. Let them weave yarn or ribbon through the holes. For the handle use ribbon, yarn or wire, and decorate with ribbon bows. Fake grass, or tissue paper can be placed in the bottom of their basket. You may like to suggest that they put some of their candy and an egg in their newly made basket and give it to their parents as an Easter gift. This is a very nice way to teach giving and sharing.
Play games like pin the nose on the egg, or pin the tail on the bunny. Have a sack or a 3 legged race. What about a bean bag toss. If you can’t find, and do not want to make a bean bag just put some dried beans or rice in a zip loc bag. Go the extra mile and put a couple of Easter stickers on that Ziploc bag.
